----------

This is set around late 2005 (which is NCIS season 3, and SG-1 season 9). I am basing Daniel's time line from the series time line, meaning that he didn't get pulled into the Stargate program until 1996.

And because it had been asked of me previously: I realize that Israel has mandatory military service required. I had actually thought a little about the mandatory service in the context of this story but what kept throwing me off about including it was that in all of the three seasons we've had Ziva on NCIS there has never been any mention of her military service or even college/university. She's only ever talked about her Mossad training. Part of me wonders, given who her father is and the evidence of his other machinations (i.e. Ari), if Ziva was groomed specifically for Mossad. And with her father's rank and/or ties, I doubt it would be difficult for him to have her mandatory service waived or have her time in Mossad count towards it. It's tough to call without more canon information. So in the story I went with the Mossad only-route. ~CJ
